Time Line
1996
- Virginia based Micro Products Incorporated opens its
operations in Central Florida in temporary offices in
Altamonte Springs.
1997
- Office space on North Keller Rd is purchased and Micro
Products Incorporated launches its internet service MPInet.
1999
- MPInet named Central Florida’s
second largest internet provider and the second fastest
growing business in Central Florida by the OBJ. Network
operations center space is purchased at the 1101 North
Keller Rd building.
2000
- MPInet is acquired by Duro Comunications
and becomes the flagship ISP of this regional company.
The following are a few of the 52 ISP’s MPInet/Duro
acquires: Bitstorm. Sundial. Global Datalink. Metrolink.
Excellence Online. Craig's Data Exchange. Florida Online
and Sun Net.
2001
- MPInet is named Central Florida’s
largest internet provider by the OBJ. Mpinet /Duro Communications
start doing business as Volaris.
2002
- Volaris sells all residential services
to Earth Link. mpiNET, the Central Florida business unit,
is acquired by Smart City Telecom.
Currently:
mpiNET operates out of the Maitland NOC. Mpinet provides
xDSL, Dedicated internet service from fractional T1’s
to Full DS3’s. The Maitland NOC boasts one of the
most convenient, secure, and redundant co-location facilities
in Central Florida. mpiNET also provides Shared Hosting
and Dial-up internet service.
